  1.            WELCOME TO ROAD CONSTRUCTION AHEAD™ v1.0

  6. To Play Road Construction Ahead™ you need: 
  7.      - a Macintosh running System 7.0 or later
  8.      - a Performa, Quadra or LC 475 machine or better
  9.      - 8 MB of RAM or more
  10.      - 256 color capability
  11.      - QuickTime 2.0 (available on this CD)
  12.      - a double speed CD ROM drive or faster
  13.  
  14. If you don't have QuickTime 2.0 the program will prompt you to 
  15. install it from the CD. 
  16.  
  17. To install QuickTime 2.0 double click on the Road Construction
  18. Ahead™ CD (the road sign icon), when the window opens scroll the
  19. window down to reveal the QuickTime 2.0 folder. Open the folder,
  20. copy the contents to your System Folder (it will ask if you 
  21. want to put these items into the "extensions folder" click "OK")
  22. and then restart your computer.
  23.  
  24. To play Road Construction Ahead™ double click on the road sign icon, 
  25. a Road Construction Ahead™ window will open in the upper left corner
  26. of your desktop. Double click the traffic cone icon to start the game.
  27.  
  28. Road Construction Ahead™ will put a folder into your Preferences 
  29. folder (within your System Folder). This is where the program will 
  30. save games, as well as the preference settings for the game. 
  31.  
  32. To set the preferences hold down the "P" key while the 
  33. program loads (after double clicking the traffic cone a Simon & 
  34. Schuster logo will appear followed by the title screen, when the 
  35. loading bar is on screen hold down the "P" key on your keyboard to 
  36. get to the preferences screen). A preferences screen will appear with 
  37. the following choices (default settings are all ON with B&W printing):
  38.  
  39. - Save  - on or off (allows the game to be saved or not)
  40. - Quit   - on or off (allows the user to quit the game *)
  41. - Print - on or off (allows the user to print some screens)
  42.             - B&W or Color (gives a choice of printer type)
  43.  
  44. * if quit is disabled the "quit" sign will not appear on the 
  45. Sandbox screen, this will prevent the user from being able to 
  46. get out of the program without the help of an adult. To quit the game 
  47. while quit is disabled use the keyboard and hold down "" and "." at the same time.
  48.  
  49. If quit is disabled, using "" and "." to quit will not save your game. To
  50. save your game while quit is disabled (and save is enabled), go to the
  51. Sandbox screen and click on the Banner. Change your level. When prompted
  52. to save your game, choose "Yes". Then use "" and "." to quit the game.
  53. When you return to Road Construction Ahead™ your saved game will
  54. appear on the Crew Call list. Click on your name to continue playing your
  55. saved game.
